Keywords: GitLab - AWS - How to - Domain Name (DNS)Description: Hi, I tried to set up the preconfigured AMI EC2 instance of GitLab CE 12.9 on Ubuntu 16.04, but when I tried to connect to GitLab in my browser I can't connect. I believe this is because I only have a private IP address and private DNS. Is there a way to configure this to work with private IP and DNS?
This might be OBE... apparently my company's AWS set up has a firewall placed on my PME subnet, that's likely why I can't connect.
Could you ask in the specialized AWS fora about how to connect using a private IP and DNS?
Thanks. I can't seem to find the AWS forum? Could you send me a link?
Unfortunately I can't seem to connect to GitLab. I can connect to other websites i'm hosting on other EC2 instances, so I'm pretty sure the networking and firewall rules are correct.
Did you set the proper security groups when launching the machine? Please note you need to open the ports 22, 80 and 443.
What's the machine's public IP?
Hi, thanks. Yes, I'm pretty sure I set the groups correctly, and the ports were open. I could SSH to the server. I ended up terminating the instance and just building it from scratch, and everything seems to be up and running now!
