Description:
Hello, Currently we are running a Bitnami Wordpress instance, and we wanted to know, at the moment the htaccess file is located inside /opt/bitnami/xxx/wordpress/htdocs/ folder.
As htdocs folder is actually part of documentroot, its probably not a good idea to have htaccess file inside htdocs folder.
There is also ‘httpd.conf’ file inside /apache2/conf folder, however it looks like the /htdocs/.htaccess file overrides the httpd.conf folder.
The question we have is, if we want to safely move the htaccess file out from htdocs, to say xxx/apache2/conf/ folder, is there any procedure to follow for BItnami servers?

Hi @rukshan.sugathapala,

Thanks for using Bitnami. I’m afraid I’m not fully understanding your question. The .htaccess files are disabled by default for security reasons and also recommended from the Apache Software Foundation. The real htaccess file in use is located at /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/conf/htaccess.conf. You can get more information on this in the next guide
