Cannot view Jenkins/AWS instance in the browser or connect via SSH

I went through the installation wizard with Jenkins and AWS on the Bitnami site. Everything seemed fine: the ec2 instance was created and I was assigned a public IP. When I tried to go to the IP to start using Jenkins, I get a timeout. When I try to SSH to gain visibility to the server, I get a timeout.

I have confirmed the following:

  • cannot SSH using pem or ppk files
  • upgrading the instance from micro to small did not help
  • port 22, 80, and 443 are all open on my security group

What else could it be? Any help would be much appreciated.

I’ve not been able to reproduce the issue. Are you using the Bitnami AWS Launchpad to launch the instance?

I did use the Bitnami AWS Launchpad for launching the instance. Since I don’t have shell access to the box, I can’t troubleshoot too much, unfortunately. Any high level things I should check?

Can you try launching a new Jenkins instance? Does that work?
