Thanks for the response @fer ! I have tried 'user' as the user name. I have also gotten in touch with Bitnami support. Here is what I wrote to them:
I have searched all over for help with my problem, including searching and posting in the forums, scouring the wiki and knowledge base and doing just plain old internet searches. No where have I found a similar problem or an answer to it.
I am using XAMPP on my windows 10 laptop and installed the Bitnami Joomla! Module, bitnami-joomla-3.4.8-0-module-windows-installer.exe
During installation, I am only asked to enter a password and not a username.
When trying to login to the Joomla! admin panel, I have tried all of the following combinations of usernames and passwords:
-Usernames: user, admin & bitnami
-Passwords: [password created during installation], bitnami & [blank]
Nothing seems to work. I am sure there is a simple solution that I am just looking right over.
I must say I that I have installed the Bitnami Joomla! Module for XAMPP before successfully, but I either could not remember the correct login credentials or somehow lost admin access. So I then used uninstall.exe in C:\xampp\apps\joomla, deleted this folder and reinstalled the Bitnami Joomla! Module, bitnami-joomla-3.4.8-0-module-windows-installer.exe
I don't know if this might have anything to do with the problem but thought it may be of some use.
Here is their response:
When you install a module above a XAMPP, you are using the user defined in XAMPP.
For change this, you could use the bnconfig file (C:\Bitnami\Joomla\bnconfig) to change the username:
- cd C:\Bitnami\apps\joomla\
- .\bnconfig --userlogin NEWUSER
You can learn more about bnconfig in the next page:
So I have tried to run the Bitnami Config Tool, bnconfig.exe and nothing happens. It asks for admin password, looks as if it's starting and nothing.
I like the idea of the simplified Joomla! installation but looks like I may have to go back to the manual install.
