Cannot increase max upload file size

Keywords: WordPress - Windows - How to - Other
Description:
Hello everyone,

I’m trying to increase my file upload limit, I used this guide provided by Bitnami: https://docs.bitnami.com/bch/apps/wordpress/administration/increase-upload-limit-php/

However I cannot find the specified path, when searching for php.ini, I found it in this path:
C:\Bitnami\wordpress-5.7.2-0\php

I edited the file and changed the value of max filesize like so:

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 70M

Now when trying to upload a 45MB file I still receive the same error: “…exceeds the maximum upload size for this site.”

I tried to log out and back in, not sure if it’s related. I’m using Bitnami on my lcoalhost Windows machine.

Does anyone have an idea what I’m missing?

Thanks in advance!
Omer

Hi @omerfaranweb

Thanks for using Bitnami WordPress!

As you are using a native installer for windows, the correct guide you should look is:
https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/wordpress/administration/increase-upload-limit-php/

This guide does point to the correct path :slightly_smiling_face:

Now when trying to upload a 45MB file I still receive the same error:

According to the guide, you should also modify the post_max_size property in the file to properly modify it. Could you please change it as well?

Hello @jcarmona, thank you very much for your help!

I followed your guide, I think what mostly helped is restarting the server via the Bitnami Wordpress Stack Management Tool, and then logging out and in again (without those two steps it wouldn’t work)

I still cannot t figure out the directory path they’re suggesting. I don’t even have the directory “etc”. I scanned through my computer for the file php.ini, and I only have it in:

C:\Bitnami\wordpress-5.7.2-0\php

Hope it can help others and thanks again!

I am glad you were able to solve your problem!

Indeed, I have checked this on Windows and you are right! The correct path should be C:\Bitnami\wordpress-5.7.2-0\php\php.ini:

I will let the documentation team know about this so they can fix it, thanks for reporting!
