I am trying to configure https to a server for an aws ec2 instance for the parse dashboard, but it says that the domain resolves to a different IP.

I can only access the parse dashboard using Public IPv4 but Public IPv4 DNS is not resolved and cannot find the server ip.

How can I resolve this dns through the aws ec2 instance?

Hi @tiago7futre,

Did you update Parse with your domain name? You need to edit the Parse's conf file at /opt/bitnami/apps/parse/htdocs/server.js.

And can you confirm your domain is properly configured?

Hi I looked up my ec2 instance IPv4 DNS on the link you sent me ec2-xx-xxx-xx-xxx.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com and it does show the corresponding ip there but when i add www it does not how can i resolve this? I can only access the Parse dashboard using the ip address and not the domain.

Hi @tiago7futre,

Let's Encrypt doesn't allow you generate SSL certificates for amazonaws.com domains. You need to configure your own domain and generate certificates using that domain.

If I just use the IPv4 will I still be able to access it securely another way?

What error do you get? I just checked that you have a valid domain (******tion.co) and it's configured with the instance's IP. I can access your website and it has SSL certificates.

If you want to use https, you need to use your domain when accessing the app.

Where it says not secure in my chrome browser it states that the certificate is invalid for the IP address.

That domain is for our website. I am trying to access the parse dashboard using the ec2 instances dns and ip using htttps which is seperate from (******tion.co) domain.

if you go to https://mxtoolbox.com/ and enter the IP address it shows that there are 3 certificates with different common names associated to it. The primary one is (****tion.co) common name. is there a way to revoke this certificate and see if that will solve this issue?

Hi @tiago7futre,

Let me understand your configuration because I thought you were using ****tion.co to access Parse. Could you please let us know why you are using a different domain than ****tion.co to access Parse? In that case, what are you using ****tion.co for?

From the Bitnami support tool information, I can see you have a Parse instance where there are valid certificates for ****tion.co. Those certificates were generated using the Bitnami HTTPS configuration tool. As I mentioned, it's not possible to generate a Let's Encrypt certificate for the amazonaws.com domain and you can't use a SSL certificate with an IP either.
