Blank white page following upgrade

I followed the upgrade instructions here https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/apps/moodle/administration/upgrade/ and when completed, I am faced with a white page.

I did have trouble downloading and unpacking the gzip file, but did finally get one to work.

I appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Oh, yes. And in desperation I tried to restore the backup but it results in the same thing. So there is no longer a moodle.backup folder.

But I do have a full backup downloaded.

Hello @kevin8,

Did you follow approach A: Bitnami Installations Using System Packages? From where version are you migrating it?

Apart from that, I can see your instance is using swap:

-----------------------------------
Display amount of free and used memory in the system
-----------------------------------
Running: free -m
In: /opt/bitnami

Output:

              total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available
Mem:            987         396         104          67         486         369
Swap:           634         160         474

You could try to increase your machine type if you face performance issues. This guide explains the process

Thanks Davidg … yes approach A.

But I wasn’t trying to migrate, simply update to the new version of moodle.

Yes I did think there may be a memory issue, but it was all going along nicely until I attempted the update. Bitnami instructions can be a bit confusing at times.

I think I will try with a new instance tomorrow and migrate the old site to a new instance using my downloaded backup. That’s probably the best option.
