Keywords: WordPress - Linux - Technical issue - Permissions
I've installed bitnami wordpress and lamp module on Ubunt 16.04 LTS several months ago. I didn't initiated the Initial Server Setup for the server but I don't think that this is an issue. Anyway, everything worked perfectly just fine before until I noticed an error 2 months ago. The problems are:
1. Can't update some plugins properly. An error message saying either "Can't delete the old folder" or "The target folder can not be located at /installdir/path-to-wp-folder/", thus deleting the plugin and need to re-install again;
2. Cannot install WP-SuperCache. I tried installing it manually (via FTP) but it didn't work too;
3. Sometimes when updating plugins that says "Can not update plugin", I will restart the site and will find that the plugin was successfully updated;
4. And lastly, I encountered an error where a plugin was successfully updated but there is always a message that says "Cannot update all-in-one-wp-migration-russ_RUSS.mo".
As an aspiring Sys-Admin, I believe that this problems have something to do with permissions, am I right? I read articles regarding the permissions of htdocs folder. I tried changing the owner of /htdocs/.. to bitnami but I always caught an error "chown: invalid user: 'bitnami'". I know this means that I have to create a user bitnami, but I don't know what kind of permissions I should give to it. Can you guys help me with this? Please! This could help me a lot as an aspiring Sys-Admin.
Aside from that, can you guys help me on how to filter out GET/POST request from logs? I noticed that both the access and error logs are big (in size) and it eats some of the storage of my server. I read an Apache article on how to do a conditional logging but I think that the Bitnami Wordpress Stack has a different approach about this.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
