The story short I have issues with a drupal component and the component developer asked me to install 3 php libraries. To do so I accessed the server using putty then when I tried to test whether yum or aptitude has been installed to install the libraries I got the following two errors:
Command: yum install php-xml
Response: The program ‘yum’ is currently not installed. To run ‘yum’ please ask your administrator to install the package ‘yum’.
Command: aptitude install php-xml
E: Could not open lock file/var/lib/dpkg/lock – open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
I logged in with the AWS default ubuntu user because I don't have root login.
