I have a set-up of a wordpress site using the Membermouse plugin for membership functions on AWS Lightsail. The domain is with GoDaddy, but DNS is setup in lightsail. The site is https://julius.academy and when I click around, I never see the IP address come up. But the issue is membermouse's latest version of their plugin 2.4.0 gets deactivated shortly after I activate it. Because the plugin looks to the site url to verify license. It should consistently be https://julius.academy, but apparently it bounces to the IP address sometimes which causes the deactivation. This is what membermouse support said...
"We don't use any networking functions to determine the site name. We use the site_url() function to determine what site WordPress thinks it is, which I believe is read from and saved to the database. Usually multiple values mean multiple databases."
"Keep in mind that the value returned by site_url() is also used by WordPress to create URLs, so the fact that we're observing the value returned by this function changing back and forth between two URLs means that some of your customers are also going to see the IP address when they click on links."
"It's possible Amazon is trying to do something clever and override the site_url() with settings from Lightsail or Route 53. Any information coming from us about this is at best a guess and only they would know if something like that is going on so best to reach out to Amazon support directly regarding this situation."
I'm reaching out to the community to see if anyone has got some ideas of what the issue could be.
