Describe here your question/suggestion/issue (expected and actual results):
I need to have second public (elastic ip) on the instance. I manage to make it work using this guide:
BUT the step when to make it permanent and add it to a file: /etc/network/interfaces will make the instance unreachable.
Steps to reproduce the issue (if relevant):
create 2nd elastic IP
- add secondary private IP to ec2 instance
- associate the elastic IP to the private IP
- sudo ip address add xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/20 dev eth0
4.1 test, and it works, the instance is reachable using both elastic IPs
now if you reboot the instance, the second IP does not work anymore, so try to make it permanent editing the file:
sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
5.1 add in the end of the file this which has the secondary private IP
iface eth0 static
5.2 run "sudo ifdown eth0 && sudo ifup eth0" and there comes some error.
5.3 reboot the instance
5.4 INSTANCE is unreachable, can't access the whole instance anymore
