Description:
Hi All,

I am trying to run/host my Ruby app through Apache.

Apache runs fine by default, but whenever i change the “bitnami-apps-vhosts.conf” file to include the “httpd-vhosts.conf” file made within the root of the app, apache refuses to start.
Everything has been followed to the letter in the bitnami documentation so unsure exactly what the issue here is?

bitnami-apps-vhosts.conf file

# Bitnami applications installed in a Virtual Host
Include C:/Bitnami/rubystack-3.0.0-0/httpd-vhosts.conf

httpd-vhosts.conf

<VirtualHost localhost:80>
    ServerAlias publictest
    DocumentRoot "C:/Bitnami/rubystack-3.0.0-0/publictest/public/"
    <Directory "C:/Bitnami/rubystack-3.0.0-0/publictest/public/">
	  Options -MultiViews
          <IfVersion < 2.3 >
          Order allow,deny
          Allow from all
          </IfVersion>
          <IfVersion >= 2.3>
          Require all granted
          </IfVersion>
      RailsEnv development
      PassengerEnabled on
	  PassengerAppRoot "C:/Bitnami/rubystack-3.0.0-0/publictest/"
    </Directory>
</VirtualHost>

Unfortuantly nothing seems to show in the error logs from apache, i can only see the logs from when apache runs with defaults and none of the above.
the only messages i see are from the Ruby Bitnami Stack application which says the following…

Stderr:
Unknown error starting apache
Starting Apache Web Server...
Exit code: 1
Stdout:

OS is WS2012r2 so unable to use Sudo in any command.

Thanks in advance

Hello @joefox1994,

I guess you followed these guides, right?
https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/infrastructure/ruby/get-started/create-rails-app/
https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/infrastructure/ruby/get-started/deploy-rails-app/

That documentation is focused on Unix. For Windows, we don’t add Passenger but Thin. You could see an example of that configuration installing Redmine for example

I have created a task for adding this documentation for Windows.

Thanks for your feedback
