Adding cloudwatch as a data source in bitnami Re:dash

Keywords: Re:dash - AWS - How to - Other
Description:
Hello all,
I am currently running a bitnami re:dash server in AWS.
I have configured RDS, DYNAMODB, Elasticsearch Data sources.
My team wants to include cloudwatch and cloudwatch logs as the data source.
The redash official images have cloudwatch.py file in their new version. But they seem to be incompatible in bitnami images due to version mismatch.

Please let me know of a way to add a new data source like cloudwatch in bitnami re:dash

Thank you

Hi @Meliodas,

Could you please elaborate? We get the stable versions from its repository and the latest version is 8.0.0

https://github.com/getredash/redash/releases

It seems support for cloudwatch was added in the current beta version

https://github.com/getredash/redash/blob/v9.0.0-beta/redash/query_runner/cloudwatch.py

Hi @jota

The error could be due to because I checked that the the redash version (image tag) mentioned in docker-compose.yml file in
/opt/bitnami/apps/redash/htdocs/setup/ is infact 7.0

So, for obtaining the cloudwatch support,
Is there a way I can upgrade to the current 9.0.0-beta of redash version in bitnami?

I hope this explains my concern
Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Meliodas,

This guide of our documentation explains how to upgrade Redash

https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/apps/redash/administration/upgrade/

However, please note that you are upgrading the application from 7.x to 9.x and you will probably find errors. I suggest you ask in the official forums of Redash first to know if there is any extra step to perform or if the components the stack is currently using are supported in that new version of the app.
