Hello to all and thank you in advance for your help.
I have been bash-ing away all day at this open edx platform, and of course a it was a huge boon when I found the bitnami image. But I am stuck at the ssh tunnel to access the admin panel, the browser won't resolve to the server, which means I'm probably not tunneling correctly. Using putty, following all instructions, I can ssh into the server. This means I have the right permissions.
I have experimented with different port numbers on the server; I'm forwarding a port to localhost:80, but I have tried it with 127.0.0.1 as well. I then direct a myriad of browsers to both and they wont resolve. I even tried changing my socks proxy for a bit, but since I lost access to the rest of the internet I had to change it back.
When I use my ssh connection to try and establish a tunnel with ssh -L 8080:localhost:80 bitnami@IP_ADDRESS it tells me that my access is denied (public key). I have tried specifying the file location with -i, but the file is on my computer not on the server, which I am already connected to.
It seems like this guy had a similar problem: https://community.bitnami.com/t/openedx-administration-portal-not-working/47005
But if he ever solved it he never reported back to us. Based on his question, I navigated to network security groups in AZURE and opened port 8080 for both incoming and outgoing, since direction has been confusing to me in this problem.
I am assuming that if I can get into the admin panel once I can create an admin user who can edit/add content/add users/etc without going through this again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
also apparently port forwarding is not an acceptable title because it contains ■■■
