500 error when trying to log in to jenkins

Description:
I am on Ubuntu Server using jenkins 2.176.2-0. The apache and tomcat services are running. When I go to myserver.com/jenkins I am shown the login page as normal. However whether or not I enter correct credentials I get taken to myserver.com/jenkins/j_acegi_security_check
with a 500 Internal Server Error

did you change something in the installation lately? (a configuration change, plugin, stop/start the machine, …)

This is the initial installation of Jenkins. I am trying to log in for the first time. Do you have any idea what might be causing that broken pipe error?

I see there is a timeout error in the Apache log. What is the configuration file I would need to edit this in?

I can’t reproduce the issue. Could you please uninstall Jenkins and install it again?
